Among the 360 participants over the age of 50 in the study, the company was able to drive an average of 4.3 percent body weight loss, which works out to an average of 4.4 kgs.
A rollout of Lark Health’s AI-based diabetes prevention program among 360 adults aged an average of 58 years achieved an average weight loss of 4.4 kg, or an average 4.3% drop in participants’ body weight. As detailed in a white paper from the company, the program also saw 27.5% of its participants drop at least one BMI category over the course of 12 months.
Today, Lark Health released a year-long study of its digital Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) finding it produced positive clinical outcomes for adults at least 50 years old. Users in this demographic of Lark’s CDC Fully Recognized DPP experienced an average weight loss of 4.3 percent when completing the year-long program.
On this episode recorded live from South by Southwest, host Baratunde Thurston sits down with iconic musician Tim McGraw, American Diabetes Association CEO, Tracey Brown, and Lark Health CEO/Co-Founder, Julia Hu to get the scoop on what we can do right now to live healthier lives, stop prediabetes from progressing, and more.
Lark CEO and Founder Julia Hu had launched two cleantech start-ups early in her career, but a childhood managing a chronic disease predestined her to start Lark Health, developer of an AI-empowered “coach” that can help people with chronic disease manage their own health.
In its new diabetes risk report, 23andMe takes pains to distinguish between genetic risk and overall risk, the latter of which can be influenced by lifestyle. It links to a service offered by Lark Health, a Silicon Valley chatbot coaching service with which 23andMe struck a deal in January. Lark’s diabetes prevention program costs $20 per month for people whose insurers won’t cover it.
Ultimately, 23andMe said it is hoping that users will be inspired to make behavioral changes. And it has a partnership with an AI health coaching tool called Lark to help those who want more information.
The new collaboration will allow 23andMe Health + Ancestry customers to access personalized artificial intelligence (AI) coaching through the Lark app to improve their general wellness and help lower their risk for chronic illnesses like type 2 diabetes using their unique genetic information.
Lark Health, a chronic disease prevention platform, and management, today announced that its AI-based Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) has received Full Recognition status from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. CDC Full Recognition is the highest level of clinical recognition for the DPP, and Lark is now the only DPP that uses cutting edge A.I. to be awarded this recognition.
