You have a lot going for you when you are in your 30s. You have graduated from the tumultuous 20s, which are often full of changes in career paths, relationships, where you live, and what you do for fun. By 30, you are closer to a fully-mature adult, and that is super cool!

A woman in her 30s can be strong, self-aware, and successful, while still having plenty of room for growth and excitement. How will you project the image of the proud, confident woman that you are to the world?

Taking care of yourself is the best way both to be strong and to appear strong, and now is the time to step it up a notch. Now is the time to focus on developing wellness habits while you have so much healthy and beauty to maintain (or improve on!). Especially for those of you in your 30s, there’s no better time than the present to start establishing a healthy lifestyle before the big 4-0 finally comes!

So, whether you’re new to the 30-something club or are getting ready to retire from it, this one’s for you! Follow these healthy lifestyle tips to support your well-being now and in the future!

1.   Use anti-aging products

Just because you’re getting older, doesn’t mean anyone has to know! You can tailor your skin care regimen to help prevent and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by using anti-aging products. For maximum results, look for beauty products that contain hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C as these ingredients are generally compatible with most skin types. They also offer a considerable amount of anti-aging benefits. From protecting your skin against harmful ultraviolet radiation to enhancing hydration in the skin, each of these ingredients can be beneficial in combating the signs of aging.

Apart from using these tried-and-true ingredients, you should also consider implementing retinoid products in your skin care regimen, for example, a retinoid anti-aging cream can do wonders for treating your skin and preserving your youthful glow. Retinoids work to boost collagen in your skin, stimulate new blood vessels, and fade dark spots, making it easier to diminish fine lines and wrinkles while improving skin texture. However, retinoids can cause irritation and dryness for certain skin types, so it’s best to consult with a dermatologist before using a retinoid anti-aging treatment in your daily routine.

2.   Stay physically active

Using anti-aging skin care products isn’t the only health habit you should pick while you’re in your 30’s. You should also be focusing on staying physically active. According to Best Health Magazine, regular exercise can work to regulate your internal bodily systems, lower the risk of “age-related” diseases, improve your sleep, better your heart health, and of course, maintain a healthy weight. Plus, it keeps your appearance looking fresh and fit throughout your 30s, 40s, 50s, and so on.

For these reasons and many more, staying physically active is a must-have health habit to incorporate in your daily routine as you get older— so make sure you spend this time doing something you actually enjoy. Running, walking, hiking, even Zumba— the list of physical activities could go on and on. Don’t limit yourself to the same ole’ workout, instead, find what physical activities work best for you and get ready to work up a sweat!

3.   Check in with your doctor

As you get older, the need to check-in with your doctor becomes increasingly important. Even if only once a year, making a point to schedule regular health check-ups can do a world of good in keeping you healthy and happy as you get older. Speaking with a medical professional about your family’s medical history, preventative health screenings, potential pregnancy plans, or any other health concerns you may be experiencing can help to ensure your body is in tip-top shape. Their expertise will allow you to unravel any health conditions or diseases you may not have known you had and ultimately find proper treatment before the issue becomes more severe.

Keep in mind, however, that checking in with your doctor will only be a valuable experience for you if you’re comfortable with them. If you’re embarrassed to speak about certain issues, chances are that you need to look for a new doctor. Remember, the more you like and trust your doctor, the more likely you’ll be to actually listen to their professional advice and receive the guidance you need to stay healthy over time.

4.   Practice mindfulness

Finally, don’t forget to practice mindfulness. It can be easy to let your health fall wayside when there are other matters on your mind. And while this argument may seem convincing in the heat of the moment, at the end of the day— nothing should get in your way of having your “me” time. Giving yourself a chance to unwind throughout the day is vital for managing stress levels and maintaining a positive mindset. That’s why taking good care of yourself in your 30s involves time for self-care and mindfulness activities. How you choose to practice mindfulness should be similar in your approach to staying physically active in that your decision should be special to you and the things that bring you joy. For some people, performing their skin regimen twice a day is how they like to relax and devote some time to TLC.  For some people, on the other hand, may find more comfort and satisfaction when delving into a self-improvement book or writing in a manifestation journal. There’s no right or wrong way to spend your “me” time, as long as it’s serving its purpose and aligns with your unique self, then that’s all that matters.
