The demand for accessible, scalable, and effective health solutions is growing. Though there are many digital health platforms on the market, there is a lack of evidence about their reach, engagement, and both clinical and cost-savings outcomes.

Lark’s clinical team recently authored our newest white paper, “A Comprehensive Examination of the Evidence Supporting Lark’s Digital Health Programs.” It’s a collective summary of our peer-reviewed, scientific papers that demonstrate the impact and effectiveness of Lark’s suite of digital health solutions. The results summarized in the white paper establish Lark's programs as cost-effective solutions that reach diverse populations and facilitate attainment of clinically meaningful outcomes that reduce disease risk and burden. This white paper demonstrates Lark’s effectiveness and underscores Lark's contribution to reshaping the future of healthcare.

Here’s a brief description for each of the topics in the full version.

Reach and Scalability

In the pursuit of improving population health, the ability to reach diverse communities and scale interventions is paramount. Lark has demonstrated that it can reach, enroll, and screen for key health information among individuals in classically hard-to-reach, underserved, and disadvantaged areas, transcending geographical boundaries and socioeconomic barriers.

Engagement Patterns

Successful digital health programs hinge on sustained member engagement. Lark’s design team has incorporated critical elements of human coaching into the Lark digital coach to ensure that it can develop meaningful and effective coaching relationships with Lark members. Research on engagement patterns in Lark’s programs identified five unique engagement “personas” that characterize members based on their behaviors. These insights help to inform personalized strategies that Lark leverages to optimize member engagement and ensure that members enjoy their program experiences. The 24/7 availability of the Lark coach ensures that members can access support when and where they need it, and a whopping 65% of Lark members engage during the evenings or on weekends when healthcare providers have limited availability. Lark’s provision of connected devices further facilitates active member engagement and retention regardless of the age of the member, time accessed, or place of use.

Clinical Outcomes

An essential measure of any health intervention is its ability to drive positive clinical outcomes. A hallmark of Lark’s programs is clinically meaningful weight loss, and Lark members achieve weight loss regardless of their geographic location or barriers to success such as high starting BMI. Lark’s coaching and complementary program offerings, such as Stress Less, are also key factors in helping members to improve their overall health. Additionally, Lark’s behavioral coaching content helps build members’ self-confidence in their ability to manage their health, which is a strong predictor of health outcomes.

Cost Savings

A diagnosis of type-2 diabetes results in large increases in healthcare costs. In a healthcare landscape increasingly focused on value-based care, demonstrating cost-effectiveness is imperative. Lark's digital health programs contribute to improved health outcomes and also save payers money.
