Lark is a chronic disease prevention and management platform developed by Lark Technologies, Limited. Lark Health provides several Lark Programs, including Lark for Hypertension, Lark for Diabetes, Lark Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), and Lark for Prevention. Your Lark coach offers unlimited 24/7 personalized coaching in real-time. The Lark app can be used with connected devices such as scales, blood pressure monitors, or blood glucose monitors.

What is the Lark app?

The Lark app is the platform you use to communicate with your Lark coach and manage your information. It is included with your Lark Program. You can begin a Lark chat anytime by opening the app.

While in the app, you can log your meals, input a workout, or record a measurement, such as weight, blood pressure, or blood sugar, that is related to your goal. When you do, you receive instant feedback.

Lark chat with you lark coach

Lark nutrition coaching includes personalized recommendations and when you log a meal, you get an analysis of your choices and suggestions for improvements. Also included with your Lark program is coaching on physical activity, sleep, stress management, and, when appropriate, coaching on taking medications properly. This all in one collaborative platform also has daily and weekly summaries of trends and progress towards your individual goals, such as increasing physical activity, losing weight, or managing blood sugar.

How does Lark work?

Lark coaching leverages principles of behavior change to help you form new, healthier habits that can help you achieve and maintain weight loss and health goals. Some of the tools you may use are from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and include reframing thoughts, scheduling healthy behaviors such as getting exercise or taking medications, using relaxation techniques, and learning how to cope with challenges in the moment. Lark uses conversational artificial intelligence (AI), which means that using Lark is like texting with a knowledgeable and compassionate friend who never forgets what you tell her.

How much does the Lark app cost?

Lark cost is covered by your health plan! Lark Pro is no longer available.

Where can I get the Lark app?

Lark for the iPhone is available in iTunes, and Lark for Android is available in the Google Play Store.

Which Lark program is best for me?

The Lark program that is best for you depends on your health status and goals. Lark DPP is for people who are overweight with a body mass index of 25 kg/m2 or more (check your BMI here) and who have been diagnosed with prediabetes based on blood sugar (glucose) tests, were previously diagnosed with gestational diabetes, or receive a result of “high risk for type 2 diabete” on the CDC’s Prediabetes Risk Test.

Lark for Diabetes is for people with type 2 diabetes. You can be diagnosed if your glycated hemoglobin (A1C) is 6.5% or higher, or if your fasting blood glucose is over 125 mg/dl, or if your plasma glucose on a 2-hour glucose load test is 200 mg/dl or higher.

Lark for Hypertension is for people with hypertension, or high blood pressure. You can be diagnosed if your systolic blood pressure (the number on the top) is at least 130 mm Hg or if your diastolic blood pressure (the number on the bottom) is at least 80 mm Hg.

Lark for Prevention is for people who want to lower chronic disease risk and maintain their overall health. Primary goals within the program can include managing stress better, losing weight, focusing on wellness, and quitting tobacco use.
